In exceptional situations, or illness, we become aware of the crucial help and knowledge that health professionals possess. Nurses and midwives play central roles in the parts of the world where it is a long way to the next hospital or doctor. COVID-19 has shown us that preparedness and peoples’ ability to contribute are crucial to the lives and health of others. 2020 was the year of the pandemic, but it was also the international year of nurses and midwives organized by the World Health Organization. According to the organization, the world needs nine million more nurses by 2030.

Sister Of Charity is about Bridget Aluu, a 55-year-old nurse who took early retirement to found a private practice in her home. Aluu is a boundless mix of patience and selflessness. On most days, she treats herself after attending to her patients. Her situation raises questions about what it means to provide care? What are the values and sacrifices involved? Do you ever retire as caregiver?

With its focus on Aluu during the lockdown, Sister Of Charity hopes to highlight how her efforts and that of others like her affect the rest of us.
