Gisela Weimann – Shadows of Angels – 3D Animation – 2016
My project Shadows Of Angels, designed for a meditative or sacred space, is based on an imaginary play with shadows. Silhouettes of angels are suspended from the ceiling of the space. A strong light source throws the shadows of the angel silhouettes on the surrounding walls, where they are fixed with water-soluble paint or with stencils of black paper. The composer and singer Ellen Hünigen arranged a piece for female voices for the installation. During the performance, the singers and visitors set the light source into swinging movement, causing the angels to dance over the walls and create an illusionary doubling of the shadows.
