Peter Brandt was born in Denmark, 1966, and studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen and the Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm. Brandt has also had extensive training in classical ballet, movement, acting and singing in both London and Copenhagen.
Brandt’s works is influenced by 1970s feminist body art, trauma theory, masculinity studies and art historical material. The wounded male body is Brandt’s most vital material, either in direct performative photographs and video works or in the making of hand-crafted works in a wide range of materials.
In 2020, Really Simple Syndication Press published “No Safe Place”, Brandt’s testimony about a life-threatening assault Brandt suffered in Rome in 2002.
